Export Supervisor in Elizabeth, NJ Company Profile: A well-established International Freight Forwarder /Customs House Broker with decades in the industry has an immediate opening for an: Job Description: Qualified candidates must have at least 3-5 years experience with international shipping (exporting) Job Summary: Develops export accounts, provide quotes, coordinates and monitors air and sea export shipments from origin points throughout the U.S. to locations worldwide. Insures all export services are provided in accordance with U.S. and international requirements, laws, and regulations governing export shipments $43,000 - $46,000 Depending on Experience Annual bonus based on department performance 401K Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Handling all aspects of air/sea export shipments from quoting the client, to booking shipments, preparing export documents and communicating shipment status with the clients and agents Develop new and maintain current export accounts/international agents by providing excellent service Negotiate rates and develop/maintain relationships with current and new air and sea carriers Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported products Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standards for export operations Develop and document procedures for handling each account, including schedule of service fees, shipment and booking process, and any other related information. Ensure account procedures are input into appropriate databases Ensure all policies and procedures are consistently adhered to Identify areas of concern in the clients' export processes Communicate transaction problems or irregularities to manager and assist in identifying solutions Assist Export Manager in the day to day export operations, quoting activities, accounting responsibilities and management of the department Coordinate meetings with Export Manager and key customer accounts on an as per need basis Education and Experience High School Degree or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred; or an equivalent combination of work experience Minimum four years experience with air/sea operations (handling shipments from door U.S. to destination), carrier negotiations and quoting Proven track record of developing new business and maintaining current business Languages and Communication Skills Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds Ability to read, analyze, and interpret carrier rate tariffs, agreements and governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers Computer Skills: PC literate Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications Other Skills/Experience: Knowledgeable in export administration, Department of Commerce, and consularization regulations, and recordkeeping Ability to manage the financial aspects of operation files Makes customers/agents needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive relationships Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions Analyzes complex problems and develops alternative solutions Ability to plan, organize and manage complex projects and set priorities Basic understanding and experience in project management methodologies Ability to develop and use collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals; develop individual relationships by listening, sharing ideas, and appreciating others' efforts Able to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition; handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization Use appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team and facilitate the completion of team goals Only those candidates who feel they can excel in this dynamic role and meet the above criteria should apply.
